Tipitina's Music Office Co-Op/Lafayette

Presents:

Garage Band Basics

With Chad Fouquier

Saturday, January 12th, 2012 at 2pm

Garageband, by Apple, may be one of the lighter-weight (and let's not forget, lower priced) music creation tools on the market, but with a little practice and know-how, you can get great product from this beginner level software. For those who are uninitiated to the world of computer audio recording, Garageband is a great program
for learning.

Garageband Basics workshop will focus on the fundamentals of working with Garageband for recording and songwriting. Topics will range from setup with audio and midi interfaces through the initial setup of your project
working with real audio tracks and virtual instruments. This workshop will prepare participants for  a second Garageband Workshop to be held at a later date.

The Advanced Garage Band workshop will cover actual song creation from idea generation to to final product, a mixed down and mastered recording on a CD or digital format.

Teaching this class is UL at Lafayette Alumnus Chad Fouquier. He has worked as a promoter, musician, engineer and producer in the Lafayette area for the last 8 years. Most notably, he worked as a promoter at 307 Downtown, played with Keith Frank, and recent Grammy nominee Corey Ledet, and engineered recordings for both Keith Frank and Grammy winner Terrance Simien.

This workshop will take place at Tipitina's Music Office Co-Op/Lafayette, located at 203 Jefferson Street , Lafayette, LA

1/15/2013 - Creating in Reason w/ Danny Devillier

Tipitina’s Music Office Co-Op/Lafayette

Presents:

Creating in Reason

with Danny Devillier

Tuesday January 15th, 6PM

Reason, by Propellerhead Software, is one of the most powerful tools being used by musicians to write and create music on computers. Devillier is one of Acadiana’s most talented and innovative composers as well as a professional musician with years of experience. Because it provides instant feedback for edits and acoustic simulation, Reason is a big part of Devillier's process of experimentation in composition.

Devillier has created a workshop especially tailored to teaching you how to use and make better use your Music Office Co-op’s version of Reason. Devillier will guide participants through the basic components of the software up to building tracks and adding effects. He’ll then share some of his expertise when it comes to tweaking and exploring the multitude of possibilities for enriching your music or composition using this powerful software application and the tools available to you here at the Co-Op.

This workshop will take place at Tipitina's Music Office Co-Op/Lafayette, located at 203 Jefferson Street , Lafayette, LA

After you read his bio below, you will not want to miss out on this opportunity to learn from one of the best musicians and teachers our community has to offer.

Workshop:: Caroline Helm discusses BAND DYNAMICS 06.20.12

Whoever said being in a band was easy just didn't know the truth. It's a lot like every other important relationship in life with power struggles, emotional needs, etc. etc. etc.

These are common challenges that every band faces at one point or another, and this workshop aims to help band members and future band members to gain insight about band dynamics to maximize their success.

Caroline Helm, LCSW, is a therapist by day and musician by night. Her successful band The Figs was an awakening for her and the inspiration for this workshop. She continues to play music around town and is the force behind the semi-annual Nue Moon Revues.
